Procedure, effects & risks

ATTIVA® therapy

ATTIVA® therapy specifically stimulates the body’s collagen production. This new type of endodermal (within the skin) electromedical radiofrequency therapy can achieve convincing and lasting aesthetic results.

ATTIVA® Subdermal Induced Heat (S.I.H) technology – the result of 5 years of research and protected by three international patents – has the potential to become a new benchmark in the medical treatment of skin ageing and offers a non-invasive, highly effective alternative for aesthetic rejuvenation.

Dual thermal control

The special feature of ATTIVA® radiofrequency is its dual thermal control. The cannula is equipped with built-in sensors that monitor the internal temperature of the tissue, while an external thermal imaging camera monitors the surface temperature of the skin, ensuring safe and effective heat delivery.

This helps to maximise the production of collagen and elastin – particularly important for ageing skin: elastin, which is essential for skin revitalisation, decreases drastically from the age of 40, followed by a significant decline in collagen a decade later.

Method

ATTIVA® subdermal radiofrequency works by means of a probe that emits electromagnetic waves and is inserted subcutaneously, similar to placing threads. The probe glides under the skin to target the subcutaneous tissue directly and deliver extremely controlled heat, set to within a tenth of a degree. This technology makes it possible to reach optimal temperatures for stimulating collagen and elastin without damaging the surrounding tissue.

Example – saddlebags and thighs: the electrode is inserted into the cannula and placed under the skin, and the temperature is measured during the procedure with a thermal camera.

Temperature and anaesthesia

For rejuvenation, a temperature of 48 °C to 52 °C is targeted. In this case, local anaesthesia is only applied at the entry point. At these temperatures, stimulation of the fibroblasts promotes elastin production and improves skin texture and elasticity.

If higher temperatures above 55 °C are required – for example to release fibrous dimples or to destroy sweat glands – the treated area must be infiltrated with an anaesthetic solution, as the pain threshold lies at around 52–53 °C. Target temperatures for these procedures do not exceed 65 °C, in order to ensure high-quality collagen synthesis without the risk of overheating.

Effect on fibroblasts

Fibroblasts, the main targets of ATTIVA® subdermal radiofrequency, respond to the subcutaneously induced heat and are thus stimulated ten times more than with external multipolar radiofrequency techniques. This intensive stimulation promotes increased production of collagen and elastin, the key elements for maintaining the skin’s elasticity and structure. The process leads to significant cell regeneration and contributes to repairing and rejuvenating the skin.

By heating the subcutaneous layers evenly and in a controlled way, ATTIVA® stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin. This mechanical stimulation of the fibroblasts by heat not only promotes contraction of the existing collagen fibres but also the synthesis of new fibres, thereby improving the firmness and tone of the skin. The technology also enables better tissue regeneration by activating the cellular repair system, providing both immediate and long-lasting effects for effective biorejuvenation.
